Hunter Ceiling Fans 23855 Original Classic 52" Fan - Black Cast Iron Indoor Fan 52"

Hunter Fan Tech Support
Hunter Original Classic ceiling fan.
Just got off the phone with Hunter tech support. The answer to the e-mail I sent them suggested I take my fan to a local "authorized dealer" or call a 1-888 #. I called the # and waited 10 mins. for a real person. The real person was a pleasant young lady who transferred me back to the beginning of the wait cycle. Bottom line; there is no tech support. Just a minimum wage body asking you for your model #. The hint was; "take it to a local authorized dealer".
My Taiwan made "Hunter Original Classic" dripped oil on the carpet. Nice heavy quality product. I took it apart and found that the oil seal between the rotor and the oil reservoir has a gap of approx. 3/32". No wear, seal looks new, and no circular mark in the paint of the oil reservoir. I wanted to know if they recommend an upgrade of the seal. If somehow the original seal was not specified correctly or not installed according to specs.... crickets chirping...
"Classic"...

Hunter Quality goes to a higer level with this Classic Fan
I've always been a Hunter fan (gosh that's funny!), and wanted to spend a little more on their Original Classic. I am glad I did. Every part of the fan is of higher quality. The blades have real wood veneer on each side (walnut and oak); not the wood look vinyl.

The motor housing is cast iron (over 40 pounds! be careful) and uses oil (tube include) to continuously bathe the ball bearings and circulates to other vital areas. Hence, this fan comes with a lifetime warranty. They say the oil should never have to be replaced or added to, but the level should be checked every 5 years.

They kept the old Classic look and design but improved the efficiency. It has an Energy Star rating and is the most efficient model I've ever owned (I have 2 other new Hunter fans which are not as efficient; still good though). The efficiency ratings are shown on the outside top of the box.

It's a great fan.

Will not Honor Warranty
I called Hunter Fan Company about a loud sound in the fan. This was not a cheap $100 fan. They sent me to an authorized service center in Richardson Texas to have the to have it check out. The sevice tech told me that it was the motor and that I should file a warranty claim with Hunter Fan for replacement. I paid the tech for the service and called Hunter Fan. Hunter refuses to replace claiming that the tech took off the cover and that cancels the warranty notwithstanding that this is what Hunter Fan told me to do. They have lost my business since I will now buy Casablanca or Emerson ceiling fans.
